We put out a call for volunteers to help build the trail on Canfield and Coeur d'Alene responded!
First to respond was an Eagle Scout candidate named Brett Papineau. His Eagle project in the summer of 2007 was to assist in the mapping out of the hiking trail and to stake and clear brush on the entire 1.2 mile trail.
The following summer in 2008 two more scouts stepped forward to organize volunteer teams. This time the task was to construct a portion of the trail itself. The two scouts, Matthew Hall and Ben Olvera, constructed about 1000 feet of trail each. Completing almost half of the lower loop of the trail system. Assisting the scouts were several adults from the community, a local LDS church, and Charlie Miller, Manager of the North Idaho Centennial Trail Foundation. Click the link below for trail construction pictures.
In 2009 we had several citizens at large ready and willing to give a helping hand. In addition, Real Life Ministries sent over 50 volunteers to help construct the remainder of the lower trail. A month later another Eagle Scout hopeful, Calen Lambert, spent 3 days constructing the beginning of the upper loop, followed by the last section of 2009 constructed by volunteers on the United Way Day of Caring.
Thank you to all who have helped us with this project! We only have a short way to go, so volunteers are needed for 2010. When completed, this trail system will be a valuable asset to the people of Coeur d'Alene.

On Saturday October 27, 2007 the City of Coeur d'Alene hosted a review of the proposed trail system with area residents.
